The Holidays Are Coming…You Got This!!!

I love this time of year? The holidays can create such warmth, tradition, and a sense of worth. Not to mention it can remind families of what’s really important.

It’s a time when matriarchs and patriarchs alike share stories of times passed and families gather over traditions of old recipes passed down from generations to generations.

I can’t help but wonder about all the families who go without. Most folks don’t want to be reminded of those less fortunate around the holidays. They want to spend and forget that there are shelters full of mouths that need to be fed and bodies that need to be clothed as well. I don’t blame or judge those that can’t look at these incredibly real folks. I just want you to know that they’re there whether you want to see them or not.

When you sit with your family and reminisce, save a prayer for those that haven’t had a meal in some time. Think about the millions of children that don’t have a warm bed to call their own. They exist and they may even be in your neighborhood.

All I’m saying is, you can make a difference by sharing the blessings. If I haven’t learned anything in my lifetime, I know how I feel when I do for someone else who really needs it more than I.

So, even though I feel so blessed to have the best family in the world, I also can’t imagine life not having what I’ve truly been blessed to receive, so I give myself.

I give back by doing what I love most and that’s cooking. You can do what you do best, but do something because you can. I can’t tell you how you may feel, but I can tell you how someone would feel to receive the gift of your time, thoughts, and prayers.

This life we live is so very precious and you can complain about the daily things we may take for granted, but I choose and have always taken the road to be thankful.

It ain’t all peaches and cream for some of us, but the blessings we’re granted are truly a gift. Give someone in need a reason to believe again. It starts with you. It’s not always financial. It can be a smile, a hug, or even a conversation.

Just remember your blessings and what you’re thankful for during the holidays. Reach deep into your hearts and share the gift of a blessing with someone who may need it. It may be someone you know or someone you don’t, just give.

The holidays are coming and believe it or not, you got this!
